Answer: If 2x+1 is a factor then x = -1/2

Let P(x) = 2x^3-5x^2+x+2 = 0

= 2(-1/2)^3-5(-1/2)^2+(-1/2)+2 = 0

= 2(-1/8)-5(1/4)-1/2+2 = 0

= -1/4-5/4-1/2+2 = 0

= -1-5-2+2 = 0

4

= -6/4 = 0

= -3/2 = 0

But L.H.S is not equal to R.H.S . Therefore, 2x+1 is not a factor of 2x^3-5x^2+x+2.
