A uniform metallic conductor is directly proportional to its length (l) and inversely proportional to the area of cross section (A) . That is ,
R is proportional to l --------------(1)
and R inversely proportional to A ------ R = 1/A. ----------(2)
Combining (1) & (2)
R is proportional to l/A
R = rho l/A
