Lets first consider LHS.

Then, LHS :

(x - y) - 1 =

= (-2/7 - 4/7) - 1

= -6/7 - 1

= -6/7 - 7/7

= - 13/7 = LHS

Now lets take RHS :

x - 1 - y - 1

= -2/7 - 4/7 - 2

= -6/7 - 2

= -6/7 - 14/7

= -20/7 = RHS

Clearly LHS ≠ RHS.

Then,

(x - y) - 1 ≠ x - 1 - y - 1

Hence, proved.
