when x = 1 and y = 5/7,

Therefore,

x - y = 1 - 5/7 = 2/7.

Now, 2/7 is of the form 'a/b' ( where 'a' = 2 and 'b' = 7 ) and 'b' is not = 0. Also, 'a' as well as 'b' both are Rational. Therefore, it satisfies all the conditions for being a Rational Number.

So, we can conclude that x - y = 2/7 is a Rational Number.
