p(x) =  {x}^{2}  - 1 \\ p(1) =  {(1)}^{2}  - 1  = 1 - 1= 0 \\ p( - 1) =  {( - 1)}^{2}  - 1 = 1 - 1 = 0 \\

Therefore, x=1 and x=-1 are the zeros of the polynomial p(x)

hence, \: ( {x}^{2}  - 1) = (x + 1)(x - 1)
