side of square is 72/17 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

missing information :  BC=8cm, ar(∆ABC)=36cm²

Let draw AE ⊥ BC

Area of Δ ABC = (1/2) BC  * AE

=>  (1/2) 8 * AE = 36

=> AE  = 9 cm

let say side of Square = x

AD/PQ = AE/EC

=> (9 - x)/x  = 9/8

=> 72 - 8x = 9x

=> 17x = 72

=> x = 72/17
