Mixture- Matter which contain more than one type of substance which are mixed in any ratio is called as mixture.

Mixture are of two types

1. Homogenous Mixture - It is defined as the mixture which is having uniform properties through out the solution or mixture is known as homogenous mixture.

Examples-

a. Salt + Water

b. Sugar + Water

c. Alcohol + Water etc.

Note- Homegenous mixture is also known as solution.

2. Heterogeneous Mixture - Mixture which do not have uniform properties through out the mixture called heterogeneous mixture.

Examples-

a. Water + Oil

b. Chalk powder + Water

c. Water + Sand etc.

Some other important points

1. Mixtures can be separated by simple physical methods like filtration, evaporation etc.

2. All the three physical states of any substance are interconvertible on changing the pressure and temperature condition.
