Ans:) Fish breathe with their gills, and they need a constant supply of oxygen. Gills sit under the operculum. This is called the gill slit.

Ans:) When exhaled air is blown through Lime Water which is also known as calcium hydroxide, the carbon dioxide present in the exhaled air reacts with the Lime water and turns it into a milky solution, since the the CO2 reacts with Ca(OH)2 and forms CaCO or Calcium Carbonate, which is insoluble and white in colour.

Ans:) The act of taking in breath. Inhalation results from the negative pressure in the lungs caused by contraction of the diaphragm, which causes it to move downwards and to expand the chest cavity. The resulting flow of air into the lungs restores a pressure equal to that of the atmosphere.

Ans:) The nasal cavity is the inside of your nose. It is lined with a mucous membrane that helps keep your nose moist by making mucus so you won't get nosebleeds from a dry nose. There are also little hairs that help filter the air you breathe in, blocking dirt and dust from getting into your lungs.

Ans:) Breathing is the process of moving air into and out of the lungs to facilitate gas exchange with the internal environment, mostly by bringing in oxygen and flushing out carbon dioxide.

Ans:) The enzymatic reactions of cellular respiration begin in the cytoplasm, but most of the reactions occur in the mitochondria. Cellular respiration occurs in the double-membrane organelle called the mitochondrion. The folds in the inner membrane are called cristae.

Ans:) The respiratory system consists of all the organs involved in breathing. These include the nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi and lungs.
