Answer : Human beings are animals, and we’re less selfish than most of them. We’re one of the few social species. There are many more non-social ones (not counting insects). Non-social animals are usually aggressive loners who spend their entire lives optimizing their own self interests and never collaborate or help anyone else. The animal kingdom is rife with species like this. humans are the only social species that regular help complete strangers .
