VI. Long answer questions (Any 1) : 5x1=5
1. List the uses of concave and convex mirrors.
2. List the differences between energy and power.
3. a) Define torque. Explain with two examples from daily lif
Answers
Answer:
1.A large Concave Mirrors are used in the field of solar energy to focus sun rays for heating solar furnaces. A Convex Mirror is that is spherical mirror in which the reflection of light takes place at the convex surface. Convex Mirror are used as rear view mirror in vehicles to see the traffic at the rear side.
2.Energy is what makes change happen and can be transferred form one object to another. Energy can also be transformed from one form to another. Power is the rate at which energy is transferred. It is not energy but is often confused with energy.
3.Examples of torque are all around you every day. A few objects which experience torque are hinged doors, see-saws, wrenches, and more complex motors (vacuum cleaners and computer printers, dishwashers and so many more).
Simple Explained Examples:
In any object experiencing torque, there is a pivot point, which on the see-saw is the balance-point, and which in the wrench and bolt combination is the bolt. In each case, there is also a place where force is being applied. On the seesaw, it is the seats, each holding a child of differing weight.
