Ban on the use of plastic and thermocol will be successful in true sense (for)

It is absolutely true that ban on the use of plastic and thermocol will be successful in true sense. Both plastic and thermocol are highly toxic for the environment.

Plastic and thermocol are problematic! Their use in almost everything has led to such humongous piles of indecomposable waste matter that it has created real hell of debris on land and in water. The water bodies and the aquatic flora and fauna have been affected the most.

A walk along any river, lake, and beach is sufficient to know the consequences of this ubiquitous ugliness floating. According to Ocean Crusaders, an organization dedicated to fighting plastic and thermocol pollution 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic debris in the ocean. According to the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, plastic and thermocol debris kills an estimated 100,000 marine mammals annually, as well as millions of birds and fishes. Scientists in their recent research have found plastic and thermocol to be much more toxic than previously expected. Plastic  and thermocol are making our environment highly toxic. When they are burnt very toxic fumes pollute the environment which is harmful living creatures. Plastic and thermocol also affect the fertility of the soil.

The need of the hour is to replace plastic and thermocol with environmental friendly materials. All of us need to join our hands to fight this menace and preserve our beautiful environment. We must stop using plastic and thermocol altogether. The governments of various nations, including our national Government have launched anti-plastic and thermocol campaigns. We can make these campaigns by saying ‘NO TO PLASTIC AND THERMOCOL’. Let’s use environment friendly materials such as paper, jute, etc. and clear our planet of the evil of plastic and thermocol.

Ban on the use of plastic and thermocol will be successful in true sense (against)

I don’t think ban on the use of plastic and thermocol will be successful. Plastics and thermocol have become almost an integral part of each and every human being’s life on the planet. There is no company, manufacturer, seller that does not use plastic and thermocol. They have become ubiquitous. The consumption of plastics and thermocol worldwide will stagger you! According to oceancrusaders.org shoppers worldwide are using approximately 500 billion single-use plastic bags per year. This means about a million bags every minute across the globe or 150 bags a year for every person on earth. The problem with most of the plastics and thermocol is their toxicity, strength, and the ability to last long in all types of weather or climate conditions.

Since plastics and thermocol have become so widely used because of their versatility, one can’t imagine life without them. Scientists should find out a way to make plastics and thermocol more environment-friendly. In a country like India, plastic and thermocol are used so much by the poor, and the middle class people. It has become part of their day-to-day existence. So, the only solution left is making it eco-friendly. Keeping in view the various uses of plastics and thermocol, the most viable option is to alter the properties of plastic and thermocol. The scientists should develop such plastics as do not harm the environment in any manner. Banning plastics and thermocol may mean depriving people of its various benefits that no other material can provide.
