vimals mother is four times as old as vimal . after 5 years , her mother will be three times as old as he will be them . what are their present ages? answer in detail

Let the age of vimal be x,

Then her mother's age is 5x
( 5 times the age of Vimal's age )

After 5 years ,
Vimal's age is x+5 and
his mother's age is 5x + 5

As his mother's age is three times his age
3( x + 5 ) = 5x + 5

3x + 15 = 5x + 5

Subtracting 5 from both sides ,
5x + 5 - 5 = 3x + 15 - 5
5x = 3x + 10

Subtracting 3x from both sides ,
5x - 3x = 3x - 3x + 10
2x = 10

Dividing 2 from both sides ,
2x÷2 = 10 ÷2
x = 5

Vimal's present age = x = 5

His mother's age is 5x = 5 × 5 = 25
