Given :

The number of legs = 92

The number of heads = 29

To find :

The number of hens in Vinod's shed .

Solution :

Let the number of cows be y and the number of hens be x .

The number of heads is 29 .

Then ,

x + y = 29         .....(i)

The number of legs is 92 .

Then ,

2x + 4y = 92     ......(ii)

multiplying equation (i) with 4 and subtracting equation (ii) from it ,

2x = 24

=> x = 12

The number of hens in Vinod's shed is 12 .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

Vinod has some cows and some hens in his shed. The total number of legs is 92 and total number of heads is 29.

To find:

The number of hens in his shed is?

Solution:

As we know that both cow and hen has a head and cow has four legs wherever hen has two legs.

Let the total number of hen Vinod have are x

and total number of cows are y.

Case1:

Equation for head

x + y = 29 \:  \:  \:  \: ...eq1 \\

Case 2: Equation for legs

2x + 4y = 92 \\  \\ x + 2y = 46 \:  \:  \:  \: ...eq2 \\

Now subtract both eq1 and eq2

 x + y = 29 \\ x + 2y = 46 \\ ( - )( - ) \:  \:  \: ( - ) \\  -  -  -  -  -  - \\  - y =  - 17 \\  \\ y = 17 \\  \\

Put the value of y in eq 1

x + 17 = 29 \\  \\ x = 29 - 17 \\  \\ x = 12 \\  \\

Thus, Vinod have 12 hens in shed.

Hope it helps you.
