Viruses cannot reproduce themselves , respond to changes or use the energy to grow. Virus are not living organisms ,when a virus enters the living cell ,it is able to reproduce. It uses the energy of the host cell for this purpose. After the formation of thousands of virus, the host cell often dies.Ti burst and the virus get spread. As the large number of host cells Die, the person falls ill.

So this this the reason why scientists regard virus as the link between living and non-living. they are placed on the dividing line between the living and non-living.
