When the complex food substances is broken down into simple forms which can be absorbed by our body easily, that method or life process is known as digestion.

Digestion starts from mouth till anus. Throughout this journey of food the useful substances are absorbed and the waste products are thrown out of the body through the process of excretion.

The food first enters the oesophagus through mouth. Carbohydrates are partially digested in mouth. Then the oeshagus enters the stomach were proten is digested. It then enters the small intestine where absorption take place. It then enters large intestine and then to rectum where the waste products are stored. Finally, the waste products are thrown out through anus.
