Red and brown plants still have chlorophyll! Sometimes the green chlorophyll is masked or covered up by the presence of other pigments such as anthocyanin or carotenoids. Other times like in the fall when leaves change their color, the chlorophyll is broken down and the red and orange and yellow pigments are then able to be seen.
Regardless of the situation they all still require chlorophyll to undergo the process of photosynthesis.
