Visakhapatnam, nicknamed Vizag, is a combination of hill station and a bay area with an advantage of being a cosmopolitan city and a haven for students.
Specialities in Vizag — Vizag itself is special.
Go east, you will find the beach. The beach road stretches a whooping 32 km and while you drive or ride that way, you will find amazing views of the sandy beaches and occasional dhaabas. The beaches are something you get addicted to, staying in Vizag. The muri mixture and hot corn cobs on coals are mouthwatering.
Then we have the hills — kailasagiri and simhachalam to the north. Mighty hills with temples and parks that are monuments of peace and calm. Get the blessings of Varaha Narasimha Swamy of Simhachalam or indulge yourself in the rolling greenery atop kailasagiri.
To the south you have THE HARBOUR. The naval authority of India used this natural harbour many times in the past to thwart external attacks. If you watched the Ghazi Attack, well this is the place where it was fought. We celebrate Navy Days in December here which give us spectacular display of our naval prowess.
