Let's look at the following lines:

The term ng punches is an idiom which is very
commonly used when it comes to boxing. It means
to control one's strikes' so that the opponent wins.
In general terms, it means to hold onto one's
oriticism especially when it's a negative one.
For examp The teacher doesn't pull any punches when it comes to discipline.
Similarly, when Felix says, 'I want to win fair and square,' he is trying to say that he wants
to win the game with honesty and hard work. He doesn't want to lose the game because
his opponent is his best friend. To win fair and square is an idiom which expresses that the
game will be played without any cheating; it's nothing to do with the terms fair or square!
Let's look at some more examples.
You are barking up the wrong tree. I do not know where the robbers hid the jewels.
The new car launched by the company costs an arm and a leg.
The idiom barking up the wrong tree' implies 'accusing someone wrongly, or looking for
information at the wrong place'. Similarly, you use the idiom 'costs an arm and a leg' for
something that is very expensive.
