In the 12th session of the Indian National Congress, Rabindranath Tagore sung his song, Vande Matram. It was the first time Vande Matram was sung at a political session.  This session was held in Calcutta in 1896.

The song is a nationalistic song which is written  by Rabindranath Tagore himself.
