Let 'A' be the side of bigger cube and 'a' be the side of smaller cube Surface area of bigger cube = 6A2
or 384 = 6A2
A = 8 cm.
Surface area of smaller cube = 6a2
96 = 6a2

a = 4 mm = 0.4 cm
So, Number of small cubes

Given :

Volume of a cube is 384 cm2 surface area is melt to make x number of small cubes each of 96 m2 surfsce area.

To Find :

Find x

Solution:

Surface area of big cube = 384 cm^2

So, Surface area of cube = 6a^2

So, 6a^2 = 384\\a^2 = \frac{384}{6}\\a^2 =64\\a=\sqrt{64}\\

a=8

Volume of big cube = Side^3 = 8^3 = 512 cm^3

Surface area of small cube =96 cm^2

So, Surface area of cube = 6a^2

So, 6a^2 = 96\\a^2 = \frac{96}{6}\\a^2 =16\\a=\sqrt{16}\\a=4

Volume of small cube = Side^3 = 4^3 = 64 cm^3

So, Number of cubes can be formed =\frac{512}{64}=8

Hence 8 cubes can be formed
