I agree with the proposition.  I support the statement.

In democratic India, voting is a fundamental right of every citizen.  Voting is a fundamental characteristic of Democracy and is essential.  It gives a right to choose a candidate to represent your constituency. Lok sabha is so important in the day to day run of the country as well as for long term future of the country.

In many elections, voting percentage is 60% or so.  Government gives a national holiday to facilitate voting.  Government provides for postal ballots too.  It is possible that around 10% of the people are sick or too old to walk to the polling booth and wait in the long queues in hot Sun.  So the voting percentage should be at least 85 to 90% for a good election.

It is better to take a little pain and elect a better representative than not vote and have a weak or bad representative.  So the government should take positive steps towards this.

Voting should be made compulsory for all citizens.  People should be allowed to change their addresses, get new cards, verify the validity of their voting card at the allocated polling booth, presence of their voter id in the rolls more easily with the municipal corporation.

People must take it as a duty and national responsibility to vote.  Nowadays online modifications are possible for voting cards.  But in reality people misuse their voting right by taking money, liquor, clothes, gifts and vote for those donors.  That is bad.   People should be educated much more strongly to vote without corruption.   Schools and colleges must teach this point so that people stay morally honest.

There should be many more polling booths than are at present.  This will reduce the waiting time in hot or cold weather or during rains.  Then people will have more interest and enthusiasm than now.  Also in a country where population is increasing rapidly,  there should be more lok sabha seats, more computerised facilities to vote.   Perhaps there can be on line voting facility using computers, internet,  mobile phones.   Then the percentage will increase tremendously.
