Indirect/Reported speech refers to speech being said to a third person/reporting what happened to a third person.

Example: Alexa said,"I am going shopping for clothes." (Direct)

               Alexa said that she was going shopping for clothes. (Indirect)

In the above example, when writing in indirect/reported form, the sentence changes according to its tense form. Also, modifications regarding certain words like 'this' changes to 'that', 'tomorrow' changes to 'the next day', 'you' changes to 'I', 'tonight' changes to 'that night' and many other words will have to be made.
