Heyy mate!! Your answer is.......

The geographical conditions required for plantation agriculture are mainly depends on the type of crop you want to grow. Broadly, plantation can be categorized into traditional that correlate to crops that sustain supply of produce for 25 to 30 years (Ex. Coffee, Cocoa, Palm) and non-traditional that same stand of crops providing yield for 2 to 3 years (Ex. Cotton, Sugarcane).

Each crops require favourable geographical conditions. For instance, I will discuss it for Coffee and Cotton.

Coffee: The best suitable soil for coffee cultivation is well draining volcanic red soil or deep sandy soil. Ideal climatic conditions are temperature within the range of 23 °C to 28 °C with rainfall incidence in the range of 60–80 inches followed by a dry spell of 2–3 months.

Cotton: The best suitable soil for cotton cultivation is deep well drained black earth soil. Ideal climatic conditions are temperature within the range of 18 °C to 30 °C and with minimum of 500 mm rainfall during germination. It also requires about 200 frost free sunshine days.

The traditional plantation is mainly practiced in the equatorial region whereas the non traditional plantation extends to wetter tropics.

Five Feature of plantation farming :

(i) It is a single crop farming practised on a large area.

(ii) Crops are mainly grown for the market.

(iii) It is both labour intensive and capital intensive.

(iv) It has an interface of agriculture and Industry.

(v) Developed network of transport and communi-cation connecting the plantation processing industries and markets play an important role in the development of plantations.

(vi) Examples of plantation crops are tea, coffee, rubber, sugar cane and banana
