On slippery surfaces, the friction is comparatively less than on other surfaces. So, as the friction between your shoes/sandals and the floor is quite low, your footwear does not get enough grip on the floor and you can slip.

Walking becomes difficult when the ground is slippery because the friction between your legs and the ground decreases... as the friction between your foot and the ground decreases you will gradually loose grip over the ground and thus walking becomes difficult.... of the ground isn't slippery the friction between your foot and the ground is normal so waking is easy...

hope it helps
