Was really shylock a bad man......I don't think so .... Shylock hated Antonio because he spitted on his Jewish clothes , told him dog and many more Shylock take money with interest because it was his way to earn money he was a money lender.... but Antonio interrupted his buisness he gave people money without interest because his job was not that his job was cargo and shipping goods so in one way we can see that shylock is not so bad merchant and her also left him alone so he had no one with him to support so he became more disturbed This is my opinion

Answer:

Good thinking but still he was not thinking about the life of Antonio...he just want to take revenge. If he would have been good enough then as per the bond between Shylock and Antonio in which if Antonio can't give money in desired time then he would have to give his flesh which is nearer to heart which may result in losing his life, then Shylock would have left Antonio without taking any flesh of him

Answer:

Your thinking is right in one way but according to me he was a kind of jealous person. He can't except anyone's praise .he wanted to take a pound of flesh from Antonio body being merciless .Mercy is the gift of god and he wanted to take it just because Antonio was getting fame .he was heartless and when it came to him when Portia turn the table round; Shylock begged for his life
