mass of water = volume * density = 1 cm^3 * 1 g/cm^3 = 1 g

mass of alcohol = 4 cm^3 * .8 g/cm^3 = 3.2 g

total mass = 4.2 g     total volume = 5 cm^3

density = 4.2 / 5 = .84 g/cm^3
