Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Dimensions of a rectangular tank:

Length (L) = 5m,

Breadth (B) = 4m,

Depth of the water (D) = 1.5 m,

Dimensions of an empty tank :

length (l)= 4m,

breadth (b) = 3m,

Let the depth = d m,

According to the problem given,

If the water in a rectangular tank run off into an empty tank then,

Volume of rectangular tank = Volume of an empty tank

=> L×B×D = l × b × d

Volume of 1st tank=(5×4×1.5)m^3=30m^3

Since,Volume of 1st tank=volume of 2nd tank

Therefore,Volume of second tank=30m^3

i.e.4×3×d=30

d=30/4×3=2.5mans
