reason behind this is that the water vapour in the atmosphere around the tumbler containing ice is cooler so vapours condenses and the droplets appear

It is due to the evaporation process when the water vapours are not given space to move out they start to appear on the outer surface of the container but it only happens if the container is capped. and it is also due to the temperature difference in the container and out in atmosphere.
