Answer:

width 30dm =3m

depth =12dm=1.2m

water flow rate is 100km/h 100000/60m/min=50000/3m/min

water flow in 30min =50000x30/3=500000m

so volume of water 500000x3x1.2=1800000meter cube

Step-by-step explanation:

so volume=area x height

1800000= area x8/100

area =22500000 metrr square

Given :   Water in a canal 30 dm wide and 12 dm deep, is flowing with a velocity of 100 km per hour.

Breadth of a canal , b = 30 dm = 30/10 = 3 m

Height of a canal , h = 12 dm = 12/10 = 1.2 m

[1 dm = 1/10 m]

Speed of flow of water from canal = 100 km/h

= 100 × 1000 m/h = 100000 m/h

[1 km = 1000 m]

Length of water flows in 1 hour , l = 100000 m

Volume of water flowing from canal in 1 h = l × b × h

= 100000 × 3 × 1.2 = 360000 m³

Volume of water flowing from canal in 1 h = 360000 m³

Volume of water flowing from canal in 1/2 h (30 min) = ½ × 360000 = 180000 m³

Area for covering 8 cm or 8/100 m height of standing water = 180000/8 × 100 = 2250000 m²

Hence, it will irrigate 2250000 m²  area in 30 minutes if 8 cm of standing water is desired.
