volume of water flowing through the canal per hour = l×b×speed

= 3×1.5×5000 = 22500 m^3 per hour

converting into volume of water per minute

= 22500/60 = 375 m^3 per min.

volume of water delivered to the field in 30mins

= 375×30 = 11250 m^3 per min.

now the volume of the field = area × height

as the volume of field is equal to volume of water delivered in 30 mins , we get

11250 = a × 0.04

a = 281250 m^2
