Water is a bad conductor of heat but it becomes hot when kept over a flame.Name the phenonmenon that takes place in this case.

heating of the water is due to the thermal agitation of the electrons which are present nearer to the contact of the flame therefore those electrons which are neearer to the flame becomes very hot and move to the upper side where as the electrons in the upper side which are cold enough settle down .
