water is falling at the rate of 1000 kg per second. the height of the fall is about 100m. the potential energy of water when it fall on the blades will be conveyed to them and p.e. is converted into l.e. of blades. estimate the power that could be generated, if energy is not lost otherwise [take the value of 'g' as 10ms]????

Rate of water falling = 1000kg per second

height = 100m

initial PE of water = mgh = 1000×10×100 = 10^6 J

Given that there is no loss of energy. So entire PE of water will be used in energy production.

Energy produced = 10^6 J (per second)

So power generated = 10^6 J/s = 10^6 W = 1 MW
