Water is filled in a right cylindrical tank with base radius 14 cm, such that water
level is 3 cm below the top. When an iron ball is dropped in the tank, 3003 cm of
water flows out. Find the radius of the ball.

Radius of the ball is 10.5 cm.

Given

To find the radius of the ball.

Volume of water flows out = 3003 cm^3

Cylinder :

Volume of empty cylinder = πr^2h

Where,               radius ( r ) = 14 cm

                          height ( h ) = 3 cm

                                             = 22/7 × 14 × 14 × 3

        Volume of empty cylinder = 1848 cm^3.

Volume of iron ball = volume of empty cylinder + volume of water flows out

                                = 1848 + 3003

         Volume of iron ball = 4851 cm^3.

Sphere:

Volume of sphere = 4/3 πr^3

                                 4/3 πr^3 = 4851

                                          r^3 = 4851 × 3 × 7 / 22 × 4

                                              = 1157.625

                                            r^3 = 1157.625

                                            r = \sqrt[3]{1157.625}

                                            r = 10.5 cm

Therefore, radius of the ball = 10.5 cm.
