The given number line represents the different
positions of a moving car
(i) Calculate the total path length and the
displacement covered by the car in moving
from A to B through C.
(ii) is it always true to say that the magnitude of distance is equal to the magnitude of displacement
(iii) calculate the diffrence between the distance travlled and the magnitude of displacement covered by the car when it mives from position B to C through D
(iv) what is an origin

Answer:

Ans 1 =  displacement is 2 as displacement is the shortest distance from the origin

Ans 2 = No it is not always because the object can go forward and then backward in this case displacement will be less than distance

Ans 3 = the distance will be = b to c + c to d + d to c

                                              = 2+2+2

                                              = 6

the displacement will be = 2
