Explanation:

Substitute major crop(wheat and rice) with mushroom, row cotton, vegetables etc.

This is the most and foremost step which government and farmers must take. The major crops in the the food bowl of India (Haryana & Punjab) are wheat and rice. Now farmers have been continuously growing these two major crops fro decades( since the inception of Harit Kranti). It gave them abundant profit in the first few decades but in present the quality of soil due to the continuous and excessive use of fertilizers have become vulnerable. Resulting in the other catastrophic circumstances.

Please read my other answer to know about these circumstances

If this is done, there will be enormous benefits for the farmers such as.

1:- These crops(mushroom, row cotton, vegetables etc.) are more profitable and expenditure is less, however they require a great amount of attention.

2:- They are not harmful for the soil and demand very less fertilizers as compare to wheat and rice.

3:- Very less water is required as compare to rice, which is very essential in present scenario when the water level is decreasing day by day.

4:- They are purchased directly by the vendors and payment is done on the spot. The vendors himself send vehicles for the transportation as well.

Drawbacks of this solution

1:- It is a risk taking factor and farmers today are not in a condition of taking any risk, so they mostly avoid to take any such step.

2:- These are very sensitive crops and any sudden change in the environment will completely destroy them whereas it will have less severe effects on wheat and rice. It multiplies the risk factor

3:- Cost effectiveness is also an issue, seeding and the labor for these crops are to high and a farmers will not be able to bear any sort of damage if happened in any condition.

What can be done?

Government is already providing certain subsidies and multiple schemes which is quite beneficiary for farmers. However, there are certain loopholes in the system which must be fixed so that the farmers can take full advantages of such schemes.

Awareness must also be increased among farmers regarding the merits of suc schemes and crops.

:-Solution Number 2

Safe and effective replacement of fertilizers

I will not write anything on this point, please watch this episode and you will understand 99% of the system of fertilizers and how it can be replaced, even it’s effects. It’s a must watch for those who eat food( I am sure all of you does)

In my knowledge, these two are the major changes which are required to change the fate of farmers in India, and both of these requires a major contribution by farmers.

Rest I am sure everything is available on Google about this question, which is of No or very Less use.
