1.Turn your refrigerator down.

When you went out of a room.Off the fan,light and go.
Enable "power management" on all computers and make sure to turn them off when not in use.
Run your dishwasher and clothes washer only when fully loaded. During summer, wait until after 6pm to use these and other major appliances
Turn your water heater down to 120° or the "normal" setting when home, and to the lowest setting when away.
