Lord Dalhousie's Doctrine of lapse, was a policy that was implemented by the British in India back in 1818 to take down the entire country under it. The policy of British which claims that an Indian ruler will loss the authority to rule the region if he has no heir and disabled the heir adoptions of the rulers.
Indian states like Satara, jaipur, Udaipur, Jahansi and Nagpure were taken by the British under this policy. Many historians claims that the doctrine of lapse was the foundation of the revolt of 1857.
