we cannot open or close the door by applying force at the hanger. why??

because to open a door torque must be applied and as the distance is 0 it can't be opened.

here distance is zero so torque is zero

HLO MATE HERE U GO

. TORQUE = FORCE × Lever arm of the force

when the force is applied at hings , lever arm of the force will be zero .

. so there will be no torque and hence we cannot open or close the door.
