We cannot easily rejoin the broken pieces of chalk back into one piece, the reason behind is the crystal lattice form and the cohesive and adhesive force they retain. While breaking the chalk, the crystal lattice is distorted and the interactive force is lost at the edges.
Due to both of these factors, the rejoining is difficult to cause artificially attainment of the crystal lattice is inappropriate and so is the interactive forces between them.
