we know that i^² = (-1)
soln:
i^² = i × i
=√(-1) × √(-1)
=√{(-1) × (-1)}
=√1
=1

how it is possible?

see,
i=√-1
i²=i×i
=-1
therefore i =√-1 and
i²=±1=-1 is always fixed value

i³=i×i×i
=-i
 {i}^{4} = i \times i \times i \times i
=√-1×√-1×√-1×√-1
=1
 { i}^{5 } = i
