Yes there are ill effects as its being used to create mass destructive nuclear weapons and are used in making advanced weaponry as terrorists want to control and rule all over the world.

1. Creates Stress - With cell phones and gadgets following us everywhere we go there is little time to oneself, many people carry their work with them everywhere they go making it so they have no breaks.
2. Takes Away Jobs - Computers are taking away jobs that humans once performed. Look at all the computerized phone operators for example. Or computerized assembly machines.
3. Continued Desire for Advancement - When one thing is created there is a desire to keep updating it and to make something better. This makes technology become outdated very quickly and creates a never ending need for "advancement".
4. Perpetuates Laziness - Now that people can do most of their work/jobs at a computer they have less need to get up and walk around. Many families are stuck in front of televisions. Many children are stuck in front of game systems. We are becoming lazier and lazier the more we can entertain ourselves while sitting in front of some form of technology.
5. Perpetuates Economic Gap - Technology is expensive. Those who have technology and newer technology are at the advantage, they can get better jobs (because of experience with tech. and ability to look up jobs online) and thus those without tech. are left with substandard jobs and thus have the inability to purchase tech. It is a never ending cycle.
6. Makes Identity Theft Easier - With the advancement of tech. more people are using credit cards. More people are also buying things online, putting passwords online, etc.. This is making identity theft much easier.
7. Causes Less Human to Human Socialization -
Now that we can chat online we have less reason to go see a neighbor. And with cell phones we can just call someone up. Human to human contact is becoming less necessary. This can cause many secondary problems such as lack of social skills, lack of manners, lack of empathy, etc..
8. Creation of Devices that Cause Harm - Increased tech. allowed us to create the nuclear bomb. It allows us to create newer and deadlier weapons. Oh and cell phones cause cancer.
9. Unknown Environmental Side Effects - Many technological advancements have poor environmental effects. Nuclear power caused great damage to the environment. The more energy we use the more energy we need to produce and we aren't producing energy in an enviro. safe way. More companies that are built put out more toxins into the enviro.
10. Criminals have easier access to children - Look at all the sex predators that try and get access to children online. They say they are a friend, a child too and ask to meet. It has caused lots of very sad crimes.
