Answer:

American astronomer Edwin Hubble and others discovered in the 1920s that the Universe is expanding by showing that most galaxies are receding from the Milky Way — and the farther away they are, the faster they are receding. The roughly constant ratio between speed and distance became known as the Hubble constant.

Answer:

Nice question

It is an intrinsic expansion whereby the

scale of space itself changes.

The universe does not expand "into" anything and does not require space to exist "outside" it. Technically, neither space nor objects in space move. Instead it is the metric governing the size and geometry of spacetime itself that changes in scale.
