we say that..moving left to right in a periodic table.. atomic size decreases because the nuclear charge increases. But how can the nuclear charge increase.. because as protons increase.. electrons also increase.. then how???

Answer:

In a period from left to right the number of valence electrons in the same shell increases due to which the effective nuclear charge increases and therefore atomic size decreases as we move from left to right in a period.

hope this helped you

Answer:

as we move from left to right in a periodic table the no. of valence shell electrons increases by one unit. Thus the nuclear charge increases .
