Explanation:

Actually, basically, we use articles before noun /s and not adjectives. Example..

  • This is a car.
  • This is a big car.
  • This is an old car. ( you can see article/s are used for noun- car in all the three examples and not for adjectives - big or old.)

Now in case of your question, we can use articles even before comparative adjectives, too. Example : 1/ The better choice will be to select a better hotel… 2. The more affluent persons don't like a less priced item.
