We want to put a fence around a rectangular plot.
The fence costs 50 per meter.

The length and width of the plot are in the ratio
2:1. The total cost of the fencing comes out to be
1500

Given :

  • Fencing costs = Rs. 50 per meter
  • The ratio of length and breadth = 2:1
  • Total cost of fencing = Rs.1500

To find :

  • the width of the plot

Solution :

↦First, let's find the perimeter of the plot.

= Total Cost of fencing/cost for fencing per meter

= 1500/50

= 30 m

↦ Now, we can find the length and breadth easily.

Let the breadth and length be "x".

2x + x = 30 m

3x = 30 m

x = 30/3

= 10

Length = 2x

= 2 x 10

= 20 m

Breadth = x

= 1 x 10

= 10 m

Therefore, the width of the rectangular plot is 10 m.
