The Weimar Republic was established in 1919. It was the German Government between WW1 and WW2. it faced many problems from extremists, power in the Reichstag and the economy. Reparations led to hyperinflation which was later resolved by the Dawes Plan.

Inherent defects of weimar republic :-
a) One was proportional representation . This made achieving majority by any one party a near impossible task leading to rule by coalition

b) Another defect was article 48 which gave the president the power to impose emergency, suspend civil rights and rule by decree

c) People lost confidence in democratic parliamentary system which seem to offer no solutions

The weimar constitution had some inherent defects, which made the government weak and unstable and vulnerable to dictatorship. The defects were:

1) Proportional representation: it became possible for any one political party to achieve a majority, leading to coalition government.

2) Article 48: it give the president the power to impose emergency, suspend civil rights and rule by decree.

Within a short period Weimar Republic start twenty different cabinets lasting 239 days on an average. People no longer had faith in the democratic parliamentary system.
