Pith is the spongy tissue formed of the parenchyma cells. This tissue is formed as a result of growth of the vascular bundles which shoot out parenchyma cells around it. This pith is absent in the monocot stem as they don’t have a particular strand of vascular bundle.

Their vascular bundle is spread out into different clusters. This leads to the crushing of pith of one by the other. The dicot roots don’t have the cambium ring, so the pith produced is again crushed by one another, leading to the formation of a very narrow to no pith.
