Western coastal plains receive more rainfall because as they are more near to the oceans and seas as compared eastern coastal areas are far to the oceans and seas

Answer:

Western coastal plains lie on the windward side of the South West monsoon winds.  They recieve more moisture and rainfall which is called as orographic rainfall.  Eastern coastal plains are on the leeward side of the South West monsoon winds.   So they do not recieve any moisture and are more drier than western coastal plains.
