Next Akbar sent his forces to Gondwana ruled by Rani DurgawatiThe first conquest of Akbar was that of Malwa in Madhya Pradesh. In 1561 AD, he conquered Chunar, Gwalior, Jaunpur and Ajmer in Rajasthan. Gondowana was annexed by defeating Rani Durgavati in 1564 AD. By this time, Akbar understood the utility of Rajputs as friends and entered into friendship and matrimonial alliances.
