YOU MIGHT KNOW THE TRANSPIRATION OCCURS FROM THE SMALL PORES CALLED STOMATA.

THE TRANSPIRATION CAN BE REDUCED EITHER BY REMOVING STOMATA FROM THE LEAVES BUT THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE AS THEY ARE MICROSCOPIC AND THE NEXT METHOD IS TO REMOVE LEAVES WHICH CONTAIN STOMATA.

In deserts cactus do no have leaves they have spikes instead to reduce the rate of transpiration which causes loss of water.

The stomata of many cacti lie deep in the plants' tissues. This adaptation helps cacti reduce water loss by keeping the hot, dry wind from blowing directly across the stomata. The leaves and stems of many desert plants have a thick, waxy covering.
